Honoring Land and Place
Land Acknowledgment
Centro Indígena Utzil carries out its work in the East Bay, within xučyun (Huichin), the ancestral and unceded homeland of Chochenyo-speaking Ohlone peoples. We honor the Ohlone peoples’ enduring relationship with these lands and recognize their living presence, sovereignty, cultural leadership, and continued stewardship throughout the Bay Area.
As an Indigenous-led organization, we understand that acknowledgment must be accompanied by respectful relationships, reciprocity, and action.
